  如果不是考虑到号称是慈善性质，收入全部捐给非洲，这本书简直就是作弊，比尔收了人家钱去非洲游了8天，胡乱凑了一篇，实在太薄了出版商自己都不好意思定位为一本“书”，又加了些别的书的节选。

  Bill Bryson is famous for his humor writing style. It is also obvious in AFRICAN DIARY, like when they decided who shall be rubbed with dung on the airplane. However, you also feel both sadness and optimism. It is sad when you find the existing situation and the people live low level even miserable lives. Bill felt some kind of optimism after encountering the African lady doing small selling and the extraordinary farmer farming in the middle of desert. Author has been sympathetic about the ordinary or poor African people but also sees there will be change in the future.
